November 10, is the second Tuesday of November, and marks exactly one year before the 2016 Presidential Election. Future of California Elections is hosting a policy forum entitled “One Year Before the 2016 Presidential Election” on November 10 at the UC Center Sacramento to cast a spotlight on many significant election reforms since the last presidential election and to discuss what voters can expect for Election 2016.

California passed important reforms in the last four years to modernize elections and to support the voter. California’s diverse electorate requires unique policy solutions and policymakers, election administrators and advocates have responded with innovation. The State has created the national standard for an accessible online voter registration system, it has expanded voter information resources and most recently the Governor signed California’s new Motor Voter law, which will modernize voter registration at the DMV.

The Future of California Elections Fall Forum will touch on these important reforms. The event will open with special remarks by California Secretary of State, Alex Padilla. Secretary Padilla has been a tireless leader committed to turning around California’s low participation rate since taking office, and was a champion of California’s new voter registration law. The Fall Forum will also feature Mindy Romero from UC Davis Center for Regional Change, Kim Alexander of California Voter Foundation, Lori Shellenberger with the ACLU of California and Jill LaVine, Sacramento County Registrar of Voters. This panel of experts will provide an overview of the State’s changing demographics, the state of the electorate, new voter information tools and changes in election practices aimed to reduce barriers to participation for all voters.

The Fall Forum is Future of California Elections’ annual policy discussion on the latest developments in election administration. The event is free and registration is open at http://focefall2015.eventbrite.com
