The creation of materials that can be viewed and understood by a broad swath of voters and potential voters is key to increasing voter participation. These materials should be created with a sensitivity to how voters perceive, learn and utilize information, while also understanding that a one-size-fits-all message may not be the most effective approach.
FoCE has partnered with Center for Civic Design to learn and test best practices for plain language and good design. This archive contains reports, sample materials, FAQ and toolkits for specific election cycles. The resources found here should be considered a starting point in developing updated and current materials that are relevant to voters in future election cycles.
